The University of Alaska Anchorage, School of Allied Health seeks an innovative, energetic individual who will work in a collaborative teaching environment in the delivery of Allied Health courses within the UAA Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) programs. The faculty member appointed to this position will provide advising to prospective and current medical laboratory science students, didactic and laboratory education to students enrolled in the medical laboratory science programs. The program faculty member will be responsible for continued curriculum development, and academic expansion of the program.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience teaching entry-level Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) competencies-psychomotor, affective, and cognitive-using diverse pedagogical approaches. They should possess didactic and/or clinical teaching experience across various instructional settings, including academic, clinical, continuing education, and in-service environments. A solid foundation in educational theory, instructional design, student evaluation, and outcomes assessment is essential. The candidate must be able to collaborate effectively within a faculty team as well as work independently.
A strong commitment to the mission of the College of Health and the ability to engage and support a culturally diverse student and staff population are required. The role demands excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, as well as computer literacy. Current expertise in contemporary MLS practice and familiarity with up-to-date curricular content for educating Medical Laboratory Scientists are expected. Additionally, candidates should have a record of service to the profession, community, or MLS education, and experience with academic governance. Experience cultivating and maintaining partnerships with public and private organizations, including advisory boards, is preferred.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Minimum five years' generalist experience in clinical practice within the past ten years.
• Minimum three years' experience teaching in the medical laboratory field.
• Current ASCP-BOC or ASCPi-BOC Medical Laboratory Science generalist certification
• Minimum of a Master's degree in a health-related field.
• Evidence of ongoing professional development in Medical Laboratory Science
*Masters (MSCLS) or Doctorate (DCLS) in Clinical Laboratory Science preferred
Position Details:
This is a full-time, exempt, 9-month tenure-track position complete with both a competitive salary and https://www.alaska.edu/hr/benefits/support/prospectiveemployees.php.
