Duties and Responsibilities of a Construction Laborer

• Clean and prepare construction site  to eliminate possible hazards
• Assist in mixing and placing concrete
• Dig trenches, general labor
• Load, unload, identify and distribute construction materials to the appropriate location per project plans and specifications
• Assist carpenters, operating engineers, masons, and construction managers
• Assist with traffic barricades, cones, markers, and traffic control
• Assist building structures at construction site
• Service machines, including pumps, compressors, generators, tractors, and trailers
• Assist with mixing concrete and grouting
• Transport explosives
• Operate air, electric, and pneumatic drills
• Measure equipment
• Perform other duties, as and when assigned

Skills and Abilities

• Must have physical ability to stand strenuous and dangerous work environmental
• Possess physical strength to operate heavy and power-driven equipment
• Ability to work in teams
• Ability to communicate and interact both verbally and written
• A keen eye to details, good decision making skills and coordination
• Manage to handle emergency situations, work pressure and stress
• Ability to complete work projects on time and in an effective manner
• Possess a deep analytical understanding and problem solving skills
• Devoted in following code of ethics
• Can work independently with minimum supervision
• Good relationship building ability
• Flexible to work during odd hours
• Unafraid of heights
