Systems Administrator
Overview
The Systems Administrator assists in the management and implementation of in-house information systems that support core organizational functions, and assure their high availability.
- Participates in the selection, planning, design, implementation, documentation, monitoring, maintenance, optimization, and support of Windows server and virtual server (VMWare) technologies across the organization.
- Is responsible for disaster recovery technologies across the organization.
- Analyzes and resolves hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion.
- Provide end user or technical staff training where required.
- Provide end user support.
- Researches and recommends new technologies that will enhance production platforms in the areas of high availability, business continuity, and performance.
Responsibilities
Strategy & Planning
- Collaborate with the IT Manager to assess near and long-term technology needs.
- Assists with systems design and capacity planning.
- Assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of policies and procedures for disaster recovery.
- Conduct research on emerging technologies in support of systems development efforts and recommend technologies that will increase cost effectiveness and systems flexibility.
Acquisition & Deployment
- Design and deploy VMWare virtual server environments
- Interact with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure systems products and services.
- Oversee new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades.
Operational Management
- Maintain Microsoft Active Directory end user group policies, accounts, permissions, and access rights.
- Manage server and data backup systems in compliance with disaster recovery plans.
- Manage servers, including database, print, file, and backup servers and their associated operating systems and software.
- Manage and maintain the virtual server and storage environment.
- Monitor and test performance providing performance statistics and reports as required.
- Perform helpdesk duties as required with support for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and other end-user computer platforms

Qualifications
Formal Education & Certification
- College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science, information technology, and/or six years of equivalent work experience.
Knowledge & Experience
- Ability to provide support for and configure Dell Equalogic SANs.
- Ability to provide support for and configure Dell PowerEdge servers.
- Ability to install, configure, and manage VMWare ESXi 6.5 and above virtual environments.
- Working technical knowledge of Windows 2012 R2 and above domain services.
- Working technical knowledge of Office365.
- Hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting experience.
- Ability to travel: 20%.
Preferred but not required:
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, IIS, and SharePoint preferred.
- Basic knowledge of Citrix XenApp 7.x preferred.

Additional Requirements:
Position is subject to satisfactory completion of a background and reference check. A valid driver’s license is also required for this position.
