JOB SUMMARY:  The General Manager will encourage business investment from the community and act as the public face of Aleut Enterprise, LLC (AE) and it subsidiaries. In addition, the person in the role of General Manager must have an entrepreneurial mindset and adapt quickly to changes in the marketplace. This position provides strong leadership for AE by working with the Aleut Corporation executive team to establish short and long-term goals and objectives. The General Manager will also provide strategic direction to the AE workforce. 

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Embraces the mission of the Aleut Corporation (TAC) and AE.

·         Operates within the Bylaws and Articles of Corporation at all times.

·         Manages budgets and make sure resources are allocated properly.

·         Ensures each subsidiary meets their goals and objectives.

·         Informs TAC President/CEO about any aspects of the Corporation that may require immediate attention and /or action.

·         Develop annual operating and capital budgets for approval by the TAC Board.

·         Approves objectives, general policies, principles, practices and the general organization plan of the Corporation.

·         Authorizes capital expenditures, acquisitions or disposal of corporate assets per policy.

·         Establish policies and procedures deemed necessary to protect the property and the rights and interest of shareholders and creditors of the Corporation.

·         Responsible for operations and financial affairs of the Corporation through approval of tax compliance, budgets and forecasts; review of periodic reports, financial and operating statements and analysis of major operations in relation to authorized programs; and determination of corrective actions as required.

·         Negotiates fuel purchase and sale agreements.

·         Provides direction to contractors responsible for environmental compliance, fisheries advocacy and capital projects.

·         Coordinates with the Aleut Corporation Fisheries Manager at the North Pacific Fisheries Management Council and the State of Alaska Board of Fish to ensure fisheries regulations optimizes the economic opportunities.

·         Evaluate new business opportunities within the Aleut Region.

·         Ensures safe operations, DOT and safety compliance.

·         Travels to terminals located in Cold Bay and Adak Alaska on a quarterly basis.

·         Responsible for all management, operations and maintenace for the Adak Hotel in Adak, AK.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

·         Knowledge of Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation mandated oil spill prevention & contingency plan requirements required. 

·         Knowledge of Incident Command System.

·         Knowledge of fuel terminal operations, fuel purchasing and sales.

·         Knowledge of the customer base which heavily revolves around the commercial fishing sector in the Aleutian Island region.

·         Knowledge of logistical challenges in rural Alaska.

·         Skill in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, etc.) 

·         Skill in project management skills.

·         Skill in planning, orgainziation and time management.

·         Strong interpersonal skills to interact in a team environment and foster positive relationships.

·         Ability to analyze and problem solve throughout your projects and day to day work.

 

MINIMUM QAULIFICATOINS

1.      Bachelors Degree in Business Management or related field or equivalent combination of education, training and exeprience.

2.      Ten (10) years experience in managing operations in related field.

3.      Must possess and maintain Alaska Driver’s License.
