Harvest: Quyurciq is a documentary short film about the sustainable harvest of sea otters by Alaska Natives. The film’s profile was elevated via media coverage in prominent outlets like the New York Times, and has been very well received at film festivals, universities, and museums throughout the world.

The nonprofit Native Peoples Action is now providing a grant to pair the film with a one-day curriculum about Native subsistence practices, which will be distributed for free to middle and high school teachers throughout the United States. The film will simultaneously be distributed to universities, museums and environmental/outdoor science centers as well. The project requires the consultancy of an experienced curriculum writer, a position which would consist of the following core responsibilities:

• Assist project’s team leaders in designing a 1-day curriculum that complements the film’s themes, fulfills the project’s educational goals, and is easily implementable for educators of varying subjects, age groups and levels of technological access

• Oversee the development and implementation of said curriculum within the confines of the project’s budget

• Evaluate the efficacy of the curriculum

Pay will be competitive and negotiable.
