STAFF ATTORNEY – The Alaska Native Justice Center (ANJC) is recruiting for a Staff Attorney to join our team. The Staff Attorney provides comprehensive and high-quality legal services to Alaska Native Justice Center (ANJC) clients. This position works closely with ANJC Paralegals, Advocate Case Managers, and Tribal Court Facilitators. Our team: 1) represents Alaska Tribes in child welfare matters that implicate the Indian Child Welfare Act; 2) provides technical assistance and training to tribal justice systems; and 3) provides civil legal services to primarily Alaska Native/American Indian victims and survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, dating violence and stalking. The Staff Attorney, I/II, manages a caseload of matters related to the above. May have the opportunity to participate in strategic coordination with state-wide teams and participate in appellate and impact litigation.
The Alaska Native Justice Center (ANJC) seeks to promote justice through culturally-based advocacy, prevention, and intervention initiatives to restore dignity, respect, and humanity to all Alaska Native people. ANJC addresses Alaska Native peoples' unmet needs within the Alaska civil and criminal justice system. Our services include education, restorative justice, victim advocacy, and legal support and representation.
