The Truck Driver is responsible for hauling materials, equipment, and supplies to support construction work in Stebbins, Alaska. This role is a key part of keeping the job moving by making sure materials get where they need to be safely and on time.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights and brakes to ensure that vehicles are in proper working condition.

  • Load and unload trucks, vans, or automobiles.

  • Transport materials over a variety of terrain, including gravel roads, tundra, and temporary access routes

  • Obey traffic laws and follow written and transportation procedures.  

  • Perform emergency repairs such as changing tires or installing light bulbs, fuses, chains and spark plugs.

  • Report any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles.

  • Assist with general labor tasks when hauling is not required

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Ability to learn the processes of pulling orders and loading materials on the truck.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Ability to meet safety expectations of the position.

  • A valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License.

  • Air Brakes endorsement.

  • Previous experience driving in remote or off-road conditions (gravel, tundra, ice roads)

  • Experience working on construction sites and coordinating with equipment operators and labor crews

Preferred

  • Familiarity with operating different truck types (dump truck, water truck, tractor/trailer, lowboy)

  • Prior work experience as a driver.

  • Prior experience with building material supply or wholesale supply.

  • Experience working with truck mounted forklift delivery trucks, knuckle, and standard boom trucks.

The work environment is in a busy construction setting.  The noise level in the work environment is usually varies. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and may be required to travel in small and large commercial aircraft.
