Job Summary: Job incumbent provides coordination of intake admission to Old Minto Family Recovery Camp, including completion of all alcohol and drug assessments for clients referred to Old Minto Family Recovery Camp. The program provides substance abuse counseling for individuals and their family members in a traditional setting familiar to the Athabascan people. Incumbent will coordinate referrals for after care services and provide case management to clients until they are enrolled in services.

Representative Duties: Under the direct supervision of the Clinical Supervisor for Addictions Services, job incumbent:

1. Assures that all clients complete intake requirements prior to admission.

2. Maintains a chart in BHER on all clients, documents all intake/assessment and other related treatment information according to established standards for electronic record.

3. Conducts and completes assessment evaluation, compiling all collaborative and intake information and develops written assessments or addendums utilizing the ASAM criteria and submit to Clinical Supervisor for approval prior to client's admission.

4. Discusses all evaluation information with the intake team to determine priority level, client/program appropriateness, level of care, and treatment recommendation.

5. Ensures that services provided to clients are in accordance with all ethical standards and are culturally appropriate in respect to identified client needs.

6. Coordinates all incoming/outgoing referrals i.e. self, legal, Tribal Court, OCS, outpatient treatment and others.

7. Participates in all case conferences, staff meetings and other program activities.

8. Ensures stable client occupancy with open enrollment by coordinating admissions and discharges, paying close attention to client priorities as determined by policy and procedures.

9. With supervisor, manages waiting list according to program procedures.

10. Assists in initiating, developing, and maintaining contacts and marketing activities in order to generate referrals.

11. Provides case management to clients who discharge from OMFRC to ensure follow up services are in place. Routinely call clients after treatment at OMFRC to check on their status of complying with treatment recommendations made at the time of discharge from OMFRC.

12. Attends all required training's to maintain Chemical Dependency Counselor I certification.

Other Responsibilities:

1. Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. High school education or GED.

2. Must have or be able to obtain state certification as a State Certified Chemical Dependency Counselor I within six months of hire.

3. Experience working in behavioral health care preferred.

4. Familiarity with Alaskan native culture and traditions preferred.

5. Experience working in remote areas.

6. Must have a current Alaska Driver's License and clean driving record.

7. Must pass background check pursuant to federal Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act requirements.

8. Must pass background check pursuant to Alaska DHSS and federal Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act requirements.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

9. Familiarity with Alaskan native culture and traditions preferred.

10. Experience working in remote areas.

11. Strong verbal communication, analytical and interpersonal skills required.

12. Must have initiative and prioritizing skills.

Supervision: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Physical demands: There is extended periods of sitting, working on a computer terminal with considerable typing. Position requires some walking and standing, stooping and kneeling. Must be able to work in a busy and sometimes stressful environment.

Summation: This position requires knowledge and experience in working in remote areas, with primarily Alaska Native clientele and their families.
