Who We Are Seeking: We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and culturally responsive professional who is committed to supporting victims and families through advocacy, crisis response, and coordinated care. The Victim Services Advocate will work closely with individuals impacted by violence, abuse, and trauma, providing support, safety planning, and guidance in navigating complex systems including legal, child welfare, healthcare, and behavioral health services.

This role requires strong interpersonal and organizational skills, sound judgment, and the ability to respond effectively in sensitive and high-pressure situations. The ideal candidate is trauma-informed, collaborative, and dedicated to maintaining confidentiality while building trusting relationships with clients, partners, and the community. They are passionate about making a meaningful impact and thrive in a team-oriented, mission-driven environment focused on helping individuals and families achieve safety, stability, and healing.

 

Qualifications, Education & Experience: 

  • A minimum of 2 - 3 years of experience in social work, victim advocacy or other relevant work is required. We are willing to provide training for CNV Tribal Citizens.
  • An Associates Degree is preferred; it may be substituted for 2 additional years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and leadership skills; including the ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds; establish and maintain cooperative relationships and work successfully as a member of a team.
  • Excellent time management, problem-solving and organizational skills, with a proven ability to meet sometimes competing deadlines.
  • Superb verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to function well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new software.

 

Certificates and Licenses: A valid Alaska Driver’s license and the ability to be insured on CVTC’s vehicle insurance policy is a requirement of this position.

 

Pre-Employment Drug Screening and Background Check: This position requires you to complete and pass a pre-employment state and federal background check and drug screening as a condition of employment.

 

Hiring Preferences: As allowed in P.L. 93-638, preference for employment will be given to Alaska Native and American Indian peoples. CVTC also applies family and local hiring preferences.
