General Functions:
The Vice President of Strategy & Development serves as a senior strategic partner to the President & CEO, providing executive leadership and direction across Communications, Development & Grant Writing, Tribal Partnerships, Participant Experience, and Policy initiatives. This position advances CITC's mission by cultivating external relationships, securing resources, supporting policy advocacy, and fostering community engagement that honors Alaska Native and American Indian communities.

- Lead and provide strategic direction to multiple organizational functions, including Communications, Development & Grant Writing, Tribal Partnerships, Participant Experience, and Policy initiatives.
- Support policy advocacy initiatives in collaboration with the President & CEO, ensuring organizational priorities are effectively represented in relevant policy discussions, and prepare written materials including action alerts, talking points, issue briefs, and reports.
- Deliver critical information and actionable recommendations in areas of responsibility through the President & CEO to the Board of Directors and senior leadership team.
- Cultivate a high-performance culture that emphasizes professional development, cross-functional collaboration, and operational excellence across all areas of oversight.
- Direct internal and external communications strategies that effectively convey the organization's mission, values, and achievements, including brand management, media relations, digital communications, and crisis communications.
- Lead comprehensive development strategies to secure funding and resources for organizational priorities, including oversight of grant writing and reporting functions to ensure adherence to funder requirements.
- Develop and maintain relationships with foundations, corporate partners, individual donors, tribal communities, tribal organizations, and key stakeholders to identify new funding and partnership opportunities aligned with strategic priorities.
- Build trusted relationships with Alaska Native community leaders and partner organizations, leading initiatives that promote mutual respect, understanding, and collaboration between CITC and tribal partners.
- Oversee cultural programs and initiatives that honor and promote Alaska Native heritage, and provide partnership and support for Get Out the Native Vote (GOTNV) initiatives.
- Lead and coordinate internal company events and spearhead participation in external events and strategic partnerships, representing CITC's vision and cultivating relationships that support long-term growth and development objectives.
- Manage department budgets, allocate resources effectively across all areas of responsibility, and implement processes that support resource management aligned with strategic plans.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators for all areas of responsibility, driving continuous improvement in service delivery, efficiency, and effectiveness.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, grant requirements, and organizational policies across all functional areas of oversight.
- Participate in executive-level decision-making as a member of the senior leadership team and lead cross-functional initiatives that enhance organizational effectiveness.

- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the social, health, educational, and cultural needs of the Alaska Native and American Indian community.
- Ability to work effectively with staff and the public at all levels, building trusted relationships with community leaders, partner organizations, and external stakeholders.
- Continued employment is contingent upon completion of satisfactory state and federal fingerprint criminal background check.
- Master's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or a related field. Relevant work experience may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
- Ten (10) years of progressive leadership experience, with at least five (5) years in a senior leadership role overseeing multiple functions.
- Demonstrated success in resource development, grant writing, and fund development.
- Experience in communications strategy, brand management, and stakeholder engagement.
- Knowledge of and experience working with Alaska Native communities, tribal organizations, and Alaska Tribes.
- Experience presenting to and collaborating with C-suite executives and Boards of Directors.
- Demonstrated experience in partnership development and coalition building.
- Knowledge of tribal, state, and federal relations.
- May require prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and consistently working on a computer with repetitive motion.
- The need to occasionally move around the office to access filing cabinets, storage cabinets, and office equipment may be necessary.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally by utilizing proper lifting techniques and working in a safe manner.
