Purpose of Position: This position will participate and support the Marketing Team promoting GCI products and services. Promote a positive relationship assisting with general product and promotional information. Manage internal and external relationships to carefully take each project to market with success from conception to completion. Assigned responsibilities may be to specific focus area teams.
Focus of position:
The Marketing Communications Focus Area functions primarily as a marketing writer, content producer, and communications coordinator. This role requires an individual with exceptional writing skills, meticulous attention to detail, and strong organization. This role will be responsible for drafting, coordinating, and executing marketing communications across various marketing channels.
Primary Responsibilities:
Position’s Customer(s): All company, company subsidiaries customers, and vendors.
Essential Duties of Position at All Levels:
· Interpersonal skills: ability to work well with others under stressful, time restricted conditions, displaying patience and tolerance in a positive manner with customers and co-workers. Ability to multitask and be positive when redirected in tasks.
· Communication skills: ability to listen effectively and communicate on the phone, in person, and by e-mail, informing customers of various products and services provided by GCI.
· Remain current regarding promotion trends, technology and competitor marketing.
· Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks work in a team or independently toward a common goal.
· Willingness and ability to learn and keep current on GCI internal systems, procedure and hands on equipment.
· Must maintain confidentiality regarding internal, external customers, and company’s proprietary.
· Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well across the organization.
· Must adhere and support the company’s Basic Principles and follow the company’s business code of conduct and ethics.
· Clear understanding of the changing business environment and product life cycle are key and able to adapt to changing demands and conditions as the business climate changes
· Strong problem solving and time management with attention to detail skills required
· High standards on follow up, follow through, and managing project timelines within budget
· The ability to create urgency with outside vendors when timelines are critical and have the acumen to develop the critical path to project completion
· Ability to multitask, be flexible to work across multiple points of contact within a global organization, take the lead on scheduling meetings and project kickoffs
· Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to work proactively and effectively with multiple priorities under minimal supervision
· Capable of handling multiple projects / initiatives simultaneously and executing to completion.
· Excellent written and verbal skills a must
· Able to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
· Proficiency with MS Office Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
· Experience in marketing project coordination
Desired Skills:
· Experience with the Adobe Creative Cloud suite
· Experience with marketing automation tools
· Experience with content publishing through online portals, such as WordPress
· Experience with project management tools
Additional Job Requirements: This is an entry level position within the marketing specialist team. Works under close supervision conducting work assignments as directed. Must have a basic knowledge of marketing initiatives, the company’s product line and sales programs.

Certifications: Industry specific certifications highly valued.

Physical Requirements: Standard office/cubical environment. Ability to perform sedentary work. Regularly work on repetitive tasks with terminal display exposure. Physical effort may include stooping, kneeling, touching, feeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing. Clarity of vision to be able to do the job. Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
Working Conditions: Work is performed in an office environment, or from home as approved by management. Typically works a 40-hour workweek. Position is fast-paced and subject to rapidly changing priorities, multiple deadlines, and occasional stressful customer interactions. Work as a team or independently and may work extra hours to complete a project/promotion deadline. Travel to the rural markets and company facilities may be required. May be required to work high profile conferences and events in Alaska.
The company and its subsidiaries operate in a 24/7 environment providing critical services to Alaskans and may need to respond to public health and safety matters or other business emergencies. Due to business needs employees may be contacted outside of the normal business hours to respond to the immediate emergency. As such, you will be required to provide emergency after hours contact numbers, to include your home and cell phone numbers if you have those services.
Driving Requirements (if applicable): Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license, proof of insurance, and a satisfactory driving record. Position requires occasional travel to Company facilities and profile conferences and/or event locations.
