Essential Duties of Position:
Outside sales to prospective and current customers, reach or exceed assigned sales goals. Connect customers' business needs with GCI Business products and services, cross-sell other GCI Residential solutions to business employees
Preparation of prospective customers to include developing a personal sales plan to meet or exceed department goals. Cultivate a targeted list of companies within a protected geographic territory. Implement a sales strategies targeting small business and employees of those businesses to convert prospects into clients. Build network in person and via phone with key decision makers. Establish and maintain good customer relations, with both internal and external customers.
Operation activities, trouble shooting, and attend department meetings. Represent GCI by spending time in the field, at tradeshows, demonstrations and seminars. Develop and maintain relationships with other internal groups
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
High level of interpersonal skills. Ability to develop positive rapport with customers/clients.
Strong verbal communication and active listening skills.
Motivated self-starter, professional in habits and appearance,
Capable of performing with minimal supervision.
Working knowledge of GCI product lines, services and features available
Must be goal oriented and capable of meeting established quotas on a consistent basis.
Basic record keeping and organization skills required.
Ability to utilize computer software (Windows). Microsoft Office™ and Excel.
Understanding of wireless network technical monitoring, troubleshooting and coverage issues.
Familiar with working and traveling in Alaskan communities
Ability to maintain confidential company and customer information
Follow all guidelines, rules and regulations as outlined in the company policy and procedures manual and the Sales Department policy and procedure manual.
Must possess reliable transportation for offsite visits with clients.
Minimum qualifications:
Minimum of two years of direct customer service experience. Previous Wireless sales experience strongly preferred.
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Bachelor’s degree or marketing course work preferred. Additional formal training in Wireless technology and/or telephone sales highly desired.
Certifications: Industry specific certifications are highly valued and can contribute toward education.
Physical Requirements: Physical effort may include stooping, kneeling, touching, reaching, standing, grasping, talking, hearing and repetitive motions. Clarity of vision to see near, mid-range, and color. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lb’s. Possible climbing of ladders, also will be necessary and ability to operate a motor vehicle and travel to remote locations in small aircraft
Working Conditions: Subject to adverse weather and driving conditions. Must be able to stand or walk four to five hours in all types of weather. Possibly encounter hazards such as unrestrained animals/pets and upset customers. Must be able and willing to work flexible hours including, but not limited to, weekends, holidays and evenings. Extensive travel is required within the state of Alaska to include small planes to remote locations.
Professional attire should be worn at all times when dealing with existing and potential clients. Each Sales Rep is responsible for their general product knowledge for all products offered by GCI Sales Department. In addition, each sales rep is responsible for developing and maintaining their product knowledge. Work schedule subject to department or organizational needs – must be able and willing to work flexible hours including, but not limited to, weekends, holidays and evenings.
The company and its subsidiaries operate in a 24/7 environment providing critical services to Alaskans and may need to respond to public health and safety matters or other business emergencies. Due to business needs employees may be contacted outside of the normal business hours to respond to the immediate emergency. As such, you will be requested to provide emergency after hours contact numbers, to include your home and cell phone numbers if you have those services.
Driving Requirements (if applicable): Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record. A business use rider must be added to personal auto insurance policies with GCI as an additional named insured.
