The Kuskokwim Corporation is seeking a Rural Sustainability Strategy Manager, for the Anchorage, AK Office. The Rural Sustainability Strategy Manager supports The Kuskokwim Corporation’s (TKC’s) and TKC’s nonprofit affiliate TKC Fish Wheel’s, mission, vision, and values by implementing and overseeing infrastructure and economic development projects related to housing, rural energy, and forest management. The Strategy Manager works alongside construction/general contractors, architectural and engineering firms, and consulting firms. This position requires coordination and communication with Tribes, community leaders, organizations, and project stakeholders. The Strategy Manager will be tasked with researching, proposing, implementing, and managing projects that meet the mission of improving the lives of TKC Shareholders, with a focus on the sustainability of TKC’s ten communities. This position will also work in close collaboration with TKC staff on project implementation and determining workforce development needs.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensures schedule and scope requirements are met/maintained.
  • Assists in sourcing products for quotation. 
  • Develops work plans, schedules and logistics plans based on the overall project parameters and scope. 
  • Ensures quality of project services and deliverables.
  • Provides project status reports and executive briefings.
  • Tracks and reports on all aspects of project performance.
  • Reviews all aspects of project schedules, performance, and deliverables for correctness to ensure compliance with assigned timelines.
  • Schedules and Host required meetings with consultants, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Ensures compliance with grant requirements for publicly funded projects.
  • Coordinates all administrative functions necessary to deliver and document projects.
  • Supports Management Team through strategic planning process and oversees progress on projects as directed by TKC’s CEO.   
  • Closely collaborates with Supervisor to research and propose special projects for the benefit of TKC Shareholders.
  • Travel to project sites in rural and remote locations as needed to manage projects.
  •  Other duties as assigned.

 

Skills &Abilities 

  • Maintain confidentiality on issues specified by the CEO.
  • Accomplish projects in a timely manner. 
  • Ability to read blueprints, interpret floor plans.
  • PC literate in Microsoft Office applications with proficiency in Excel and Word.
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal. 
  • Ability to effectively prioritize several projects at one time; strong sense of organization.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively either individually or as part of a team.
  • Strong leadership qualities and experience.  
  • Demonstrated project planning, development, and implementation skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project a plus.
  • PMP certification a plus.

 

Required Education & Experience 

  • Degree in Construction Management, Project Management, or related field. 
  • Six years or more of project management experience focused on construction, rural development, and other complex projects.
