General Functions:
The Reading Intervention Supervisor leads a comprehensive literacy support program for Alaska Native and American Indian participants at multiple Anchorage School District elementary schools, ensuring alignment with state standards and grant requirements. This position supervises reading support staff, coordinates evidence-based interventions, and fosters family and community relationships to improve participant literacy achievement. Working in partnership with our people, the Reading Intervention Supervisor develops opportunities that fulfill our endless potential through culturally responsive and trauma-informed educational practices. The role requires strong leadership skills, educational expertise, and dedication to advancing literacy outcomes for Alaska Native and American Indian youth.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Recruit, interview, hire, and onboard Reading Support Staff to build a qualified literacy support team.
- Provide ongoing leadership, motivation, coaching, and performance evaluations to ensure staff effectiveness and professional growth.
- Guide staff in implementing evidence-based, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed teaching methods aligned with Alaska State Standards (K-3).
- Assess site-specific literacy needs using data analysis and staff input to develop targeted intervention strategies.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and reading support staff to tailor reading interventions for individual participant needs.
- Observe staff instruction regularly and provide strengths-based feedback to improve teaching effectiveness.
- Monitor program budgets in collaboration with the Program Manager and ensure adherence to grant requirements.
- Coordinate reading material delivery and logistics for partner school sites to ensure resource availability.
- Build positive relationships with families to promote student learning and encourage involvement in each child's literacy development.
- Assist with data collection, narrative reporting, and documentation to meet grant compliance requirements.
- Maintain open communication with school leadership, counselors, and CITC partners to ensure program alignment and effectiveness.
- Identify training needs and facilitate professional development opportunities for reading support staff.
- Represent CITC at community and state events, promoting awareness and partnership opportunities.
- Foster a safe, trusting, and inclusive environment for students and staff across all program sites.
- Perform all related duties as needed and assigned.

- Ability to travel outside of Anchorage and/or Alaska as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Continued employment is contingent upon completion of satisfactory state and federal fingerprint criminal background check.
- Bachelor's degree in Reading Intervention, Education, Social Work, Youth Development, or related field. Relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.
- Valid Alaska educator certificate.
- Five (5) years of experience working professionally with families and youth.
- Demonstrated experience in program management and staff supervision.
- Valid Alaska driver's license and insurable under CITC's automotive insurance, which requires a driver to be at least 21 years of age and have had a driver's license for at least three years.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Education or Reading Specialist certification.
- Knowledge of the Anchorage School District policies and procedures.
- Experience working with Alaska Native families and knowledge of their values and belief systems.

- May require prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and consistently working on a computer with repetitive motion.
- The need to occasionally move around the office to access filing cabinets, storage cabinets, and office equipment may be necessary.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently by utilizing proper lifting techniques and working in a safe manner.
