The Department of Psychology at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) is accepting applications for a full-time, non-tenure track, two-year teaching position in Psychology at the rank of Instructor or Assistant Professor. Applicants must have the skills and knowledge to teach general areas of psychology such as introductory psychology and lifespan development courses at the undergraduate level. The Department prepares students for advanced study in the social and health sciences, and to become members of the behavioral health workforce. The Department of Psychology at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) invites applications for a full-time two-year teaching position in Psychology. Applicants must have the skills and knowledge to teach general areas of psychology such as introductory psychology and lifespan development courses at the undergraduate level. Candidates with experience teaching these in a variety of formats (e.g., in-person, synchronous online, or asynchronous online) are particularly encouraged to apply as we seek a dynamic and adaptive instructor who can teach a diverse body of undergraduate students in a variety of settings.

To thrive in this role the candidate should have strong interpersonal and communication skills, knowledge of contemporary curricular content for introductory and developmental psychology, the ability to build relationships with community and campus partners, and the potential to mentor students in research.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

Master's degree in psychology or related field by the time of appointment for instructor rank. Ph.D. in psychology or related field by the time of appointment for Assistant Professor rank. Evidence of teaching effectiveness as appropriate to rank at appointment.

 

Preferred qualifications: Experience teaching at introductory and advanced undergraduate levels as well as both face-to-face and online.

 

Position Details:

 

This position is located on the University of Alaska Anchorage campus in Anchorage, AK. This is a full-time, 9-month base, term-funded, two year faculty position complete with both a competitive salary and https://www.alaska.edu/hr/benefits/support/prospectiveemployees.php. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, faculty time off, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. Faculty salaries are based on a variety of factors, including education and experience.
