Position Summary:
The IT Support Associate provides technical assistance to staff by installing, maintaining, and supporting hardware, software, and other IT-related systems. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about technology, eager to learn, and committed to providing excellent customer service.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will:
- Respond to requests for help and assist users with basic technical issues.
- Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, and other IT equipment.
- Assist in setting up user accounts, passwords, and workstations.
- Provide first-line support for software and network problems.
- Document support procedures, troubleshooting steps, and user guides.
- Maintain inventory of IT equipment and supplies.
- Assist with onboarding and offboarding procedures for new and departing employees.
- Support cybersecurity awareness and assist in system security checks.
- Escalate complex issues to senior IT staff as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Database and all other office applications.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- High school graduate or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (or currently pursuing).
- Basic understanding of computer hardware, software, and networking principles.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Preferred experience with:
- Window environments.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office 360, Google Workspace, or similar productivity tools.
- CompTIA A+ or similar certification is a plus.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
- Clean state and federal background check.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Office setting with occasional lifting of equipment up to 50 lbs.
- Some travel between sites may be required.
- Occasional after-hours or weekend work for system upgrades or emergencies.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Knowledge and experience of Knik Tribe’s Service Area and Knik Tribe’s Programs.
- Adequate understanding of all Microsoft Office Applications.
- Capable of basic maintenance for general office equipment and multi-line phone systems.
- Must pass a criminal background check and be free of barrier crimes.
- Clean driving record.
- Knowledge and application of professional and ethical conduct as guided by Knik Tribal Council Personnel Manual Section 8.1.
DETAILS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Location: 1744 N Prospect Drive Palmer, AK 99645
- Supervisor: IT Chief Information Officer
- Schedule: Monday – Friday. 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Full-time (40 hrs/week), full-year position.
- Salary: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour DOE/E. Plus full benefits: Federal Employee Health Benefits (FEHB) medical, dental, vision, life insurance, paid leave and holidays, and retirement plan with matching contributions.
