Afognak Native Corporation has an opportunity for a Commercial Development Manager in Anchorage, Alaska.  The Commercial Development Manager will be responsible for business development, proposal, and special project activities for Afognak Commercial Group, LLC (ACG). Position duties cover a variety of activities for multiple ACG subsidiaries, with a primary focus on the resource development and industrial security industries. Primarily located in Anchorage with scheduled rotations to Prudhoe Bay.

  • Develop and contact new clients to pursue business development opportunities and new business lines.
  • Maintain positive relationships and communication with core clients for continued business and new opportunities. Includes in-person travel to and from the North Slope on a scheduled monthly basis for a minimum 5-7 days/month.
  • Attending meetings and industry events as needed.
  • Investigate business development opportunities through online research, including completing registration of company in client vendor portals and trade organizations.
  • Ensure ACG and its subsidiaries diversify into new markets or expand through industry partnerships. Make recommendations to senior leadership based on trends.
  • Stay engaged on security and resource development sector news. 
  • Interface with management regarding business development opportunities, including maintaining a tracking spreadsheet for opportunities and working closely with the COO and other senior leadership in ACG.
  • Prepare technical and commercial cost proposals for client projects. Includes analysis of proposal documents, preparation of submittal, internal proposal reviews and final submittal.
  • Responsible for collecting cost and pricing data, developing the structure of the proposal, interfacing technical and operations staff to understand the scope of work.
  • Perform inspections of Afognak’s camp assets and associated properties when on-site in in Prudhoe Bay.
  • Ensure all assets are secure, and in clean condition, ready for client site visits and showings when cold stacked.
  • Supervise and support Camp Managers/Maintenance personnel working at remote facilities as needed, to ensure client and Company policies are understood and adhered to.

Payrate: $85,000 to $110,000 Annually

Requried Qualifications & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in cost proposal development, technical writing, or procurement. Finance background may serve as a substitute if technical writing skills can be otherwise verified. 
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience at North Slope.
  • Significant existing contacts with Alaska business leaders and decision makers. 
  • Expertise in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, Teams, Share Point, and Outlook.
  • Proficiency in navigating and utilizing a variety of web-based platforms and services, with the ability to quickly adapt to new technologies.
  • Proven ability to multi-task, with ability to prioritize tasks effectively, while maintaining quality of work and rapid turnaround times. 
  • Experience in effectively working within team environments.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to liaise effectively with various corporate departments.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong emphasis on accuracy and quality in all work.
  • Ability to work independently, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Experience leading opportunities through the entire business development life cycle for prime bids preferred.
