Safety Specialist
Arctic Slope Regional Corporation
The primary responsibilities for this position are to provide field support to the workforce for occupational safety and health issues such as hazard identification, evaluation and mitigation, application of company safe work practices and PPE selection and to provide HSE training. Other responsibilities for this position include safety and emergency response equipment readiness and implementation of the HSE training program. Some travel is required (10%). This position is a full-time Valdez based position at the Petro Star Valdez Refinery and is based on 40 hour work week, with occasional overtime annually for Turnarounds.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety regulations, safety policies, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees or customers.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply critical thinking to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to thrive in a dynamic work environment and adapt quickly to changes.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include the ability to adjust focus.

The work environment is approximately 50% in an industrial setting and 50% in a busy office setting. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to high. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to outside-weather conditions and may be required to travel in small and large commercial aircraft.
