Summary:
Under general supervision, assists the Fleet Coordinator and supports the equipment maintenance and repair needs for all ANTHC and Division of Environmental Health and Engineering (DEHE) fleet equipment and vehicles.

Responsibilities:

Supports the repair and maintenance of fleet equipment and vehicle assets to assure all items are serviceable, scheduled, and actively utilized.

 

Assists and supports Fleet Coordinator by:

  • Analyzing machine system failures and recommends corrective action to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Recommends appropriate repair procedures used in remote locations within Alaska.
  • Locates repair and support supplies at vendors.
  • Recommends best method of shipment to meet project schedule need.
  • Initiates orders through the purchasing process to support field construction efforts related to machinery.
  • Assists with freight movements as needed to ensure time frames are met.
  • Track tools, repair parts and supplies to ensure receipt at rural work sites.

Helps coordinate procurement of equipment through DEHE Purchasing and Contracting means.

 

Assists with the transfer, liquidation, and disposal of salvageable equipment.

 

Maintains equipment service log reports for routine maintenance on all assigned equipment.

 

Provides capital equipment lease/purchase analysis options for ANTHC divisions. Analyzes expenditures and recommends purchases of fleet owned equipment and tools. Defines specifications for construction equipment, secures pricing, and inspects deliveries.

 

Performs repair specific cost estimates when required.

 

Plans and provides input for anticipated long-range construction project maintenance needs.

 

Provides capital equipment lease/purchase analysis options for ANTHC divisions. Composes lease agreements.

 

Proficient with maintenance computer software such as CAT Electronic Technician, John Deere Service Advisor.

 

Proficient working with producing equipment reports, schedules, and history.

 

Must be able to provide technical guidance and direction to field mechanics and tradesmen on maintenance issue to take appropriate action.

 

Must have a working knowledge of logistics as related to locating maintenance parts and supplies in conjunction with selecting and/or arraigning appropriate methods of conveyance to meet time sensitive needs.

 

Must be able to effectively troubleshoot equipment failure symptoms as provided by laymen over the phone and provide direction for appropriate action.

 

Assists Fleet Coordinator as required.

 

Performs other duties as assigned or required.

  • Skill in analyzing and resolving heavy equipment operation and maintenance problems.
  • Skill in estimating cost comparison and data analysis.
  • Skill in operating a personal computer, utilizing a variety of applicable software programs.

  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks concurrently and meet deadlines.

MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

An Associate Degree in technical curriculum relevant to this position is highly desired. Progressively responsible work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

 

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

Non-supervisory – Five (5) years of equipment fleet maintenance experience. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or training may be substituted for experience.

 

MINIMUM CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATION

Requires a valid Alaska driver’s license with a clean driving record.
