DUTIES: The position of On Call Elder Meal Service Cook with the Aleutian Pribilof Islands Association (APIA) will plan and execute the daily operations associated with the APIA Elder Meal Service Program in the absence of the main cook. This will include cooking lunch for the Elders three times a week, facilitating during the meal, and cleanup of the kitchen and dining facilities during and after each meal. Duties will also include record keeping regarding everyday meal operations and Elder’s records. This position will also need to coordinate with APIA’s Anchorage office and regional food suppliers for any shipments made to the meal site in the way of food or equipment. The On Call Elder Meal Service Cook will be responsible for maintaining a food safe environment throughout the duration of meal service operations.
QUALIFICATIONS: High School Graduate or GED. Experience in food service preferred. Experience cooking large meals and at least entry level knowledge and appreciation for general food safety guidelines. Ability to work independently with little to no oversight during daily operations. Willing to take training and attend workshops and meetings periodically to enhance job performance and knowledge. Ability to maintain respectful communication with Elders, co-workers, volunteers, and other patrons at all times, especially under stressful circumstances. Maintaining various records, or assisting in APIA’s record keeping, with regards to Elder Intake Forms, participant feedback records, food substitution records, Elder nutritional records, food donation records, food temperature records, employee training records, etc. Obtaining CPR and any other necessary health certification within 6 months of employment.
