Join the University of Alaska Fairbanks Community and Technical College as a Term Assistant Professor in our Computer and Information Technology Systems (CITS) program. This is a rewarding opportunity to help shape Alaska's future IT professionals through hands-on teaching and meaningful community engagement.

 

This full-time faculty position is based in Fairbanks and includes teaching a variety of courses such as system and network administration, cybersecurity, operating systems, and cloud computing. You'll also help design and revise curriculum, support eLearning initiatives, advise students, and collaborate on program development, grants, and faculty committees.

 

To thrive in this role you should have strong communication and presentation skills, a background in teaching or training, and hands-on experience in supporting and troubleshooting operating systems and network environments. Skills in system and network administration, information security, virtualization, cloud computing, and technical support are key. The ability to develop engaging course content and connect with diverse learners will set you up for success.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent industry experience and/or industry certification in information technology.

-3 years of documented relevant work experience in the computer and information technology field.

 

Although not required, the following additional knowledge, skills, and abilities are also preferred:

 

- Master's degree

- Current industry-related certifications from CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco, or other recognized IT certification organizations.

- Practical experience managing and supporting small to medium-sized businesses or enterprise-level IT environments (e.g., help desk; infrastructure and/or systems planning and deployment).

- Demonstrated curriculum development experience.

- Experience developing and/or delivering online courses.

- Demonstrated experience implementing virtualization and simulation technologies for the purpose of delivering computer and information technology curricula.

- Experience with diverse cultures and learning styles.

 

Position Details:

 

This position is located at the UAF Community and Technical College in Fairbanks. This is a full-time,9-month, term faculty position complete with both a competitive salary and https://www.alaska.edu/hr/benefits/support/prospectiveemployees.php.
