Choosing Our Roots
Choosing Our Roots (COR) and Tundra Women’s Coalition (TWC) are excited to announce the launch of a host home program for youth who experience homelessness in Bethel. Drawing on the success of COR’s model, which serves LGBTQ+ youth in other regions of Alaska, this joint program will serve all youth (ages 13-24) regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.

This full-time, year-round position provides support and advocacy services to participants in a variety of settings via screening, training, education, empowerment-based interventions (individual and group), and host home programs. The Co-Director of Programming assists youth and young adult participants in connecting with host homes, finding solutions, creating and adjusting goals, and navigating the social and emotional issues related to experiencing homelessness, including those specific to LGBTQ+ young people. This position coordinates with, and supports the participant as they navigate intersecting systems that support youth.
This position’s primary role is to engage with youth and young adult participants, while also serving and responding to requests for help by host families, families of origin, and service providers as outlined and agreed to by the participant. This position is also tasked with collaborating with the COR Co-Director of Statewide Programming, The Tundra Women’s Coalition, the Bethel Housing and Homelessness Coalition, volunteers and other community stakeholders, in order to launch programming in Bethel.

Hours: Flexible scheduling in collaboration with team; some evening and weekend hours

Pay range: $55,000-$60,000 DOE plus benefits
