Paralegal Job Description

The Interior Alaska Center for Non-Violent Living is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Paralegal for our Legal Services Program. This position will be full-time with a flexible, family-friendly schedule.  The Paralegal will work closely with a Legal Assistant to support 2-4 in-house family law attorneys. 

Duties will include maintaining electronic and physical case files and calendars;  drafting pleadings, motions and other legal documents; timely document filing at the courthouse and distribution to opposing parties;  and other typical paralegal work and general office duties as needed.  The IACNVL Legal Services Program strives to provide a holistic approach to serving our family law clients who are seeking protective orders, divorce, and child custody and support.  We value our staff and promote self-care and healthy boundaries between home and work life.

Minimum qualifications include:  a certificate in Paralegal Studies or closely related field; job experience may be used in lieu of education; high level of competency using Microsoft Word and Excel; excellent written communication, proof reading and editing skills; and ability to research statutes, court rules, and case law.  Applicants must pass a background check and demonstrate the ability to work with a diverse population
